Champalimaud Research (CR) has an open position for a candidate looking for a professional, dynamic and diverse work environment. As Teaching Lab Manager (TLM), you will be part of the CR Support Units (CRSU), providing the CR community with organisation and execution of all logistic arrangements for the CAJAL summer courses, as well as the teaching component of the International Neuroscience Doctoral Programme (INDP).
The teaching lab manager is responsible for the coordination of the CAJAL summer courses, overseeing them from their inception to completion, ensuring all the stakeholders comply with the guidelines and deadlines issued by the CAJAL central administration and the Champalimaud Research administration, ensuring its reach and efficient execution. The TLM also coordinates the logistics of the INDP, gathering reading materials for and from faculty and students, liaising with all to ensure adequate scheduling of classes, experimental work and related social activities. The TLM, is responsible for planning, execution, and follow-up/administrative tasks of the training activities taking place in the Teaching Lab and Classroom.
A Doctorate (Ph.D.) or a Masters (M.Sc.) degree in Exact Sciences or Natural Sciences is a strong plus, although Bachelors/Licenciados with relevant experience will be considered. Experience of working in a research environment is a plus;
Strong previous experience of project management and event organisation;
Fluency in English and Portuguese is indispensable.
The successful candidate must be organised with effective time management and multitasking skills to work to deadlines; they must have excellent communication and leadership skills, to interact with the different stakeholders involved (e.g., the CAJAL central administration, members of CR Faculty, students and postdoc researchers, other Champalimaud Foundation departments or external partners). The chosen candidate must be enthusiastic, proactive, with practical problem-solving skills and endurance for a fast-paced daily rhythm, self-motivated and able to work with the minimum of instruction. A high level of resilience is essential, as well as the ability to take a longer-term view.
