    The Champalimaud Foundation invites applications for Group Leaders to join a dynamic and highly collaborative international research institute in Lisbon, Portugal.

    Champalimaud Research has an established program in fundamental brain research and is seeking to build the area of physiology and cancer research. We are particularly interested in applications from candidates with ambitious research programs that interrogate the cellular and molecular networks underlying tissue health, disease and oncogenesis. We welcome applicants using either fundamental or translational approaches and encourage applicants from all disciplines within the biomedical sciences, including, but not limited to, cell and molecular biology, development, aging, immunology, quantitative biomedicine and computational biology. Applications are sought from researchers at all levels.

    To promote risk-taking research, generous support for salary, start-up and annual running costs will be provided. Researchers will be based at the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown, a highly interactive and innovative scientific environment. The Centre’s world-class facilities for clinical and fundamental research include platforms for advanced microscopy, flow cytometry, ultra-high field magnetic resonance imaging, and facilities for a range of model organisms (Drosophila, Zebrafish and mice).

    The Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown is situated on the waterfront in central Lisbon. English is the official language of the Centre. Lisbon has a sunny Atlantic-Mediterranean climate, vibrant culture, international schools, convenient housing options and is considered one of the world’s safest cities.
