October 5th 2008 marked an historic occasion not only for the nation of Portugal but also for the Champalimaud Foundation.
When completed in 2010, the Centre for the Unknown will be the most grandiose and expensive life-sciences research project the country has even seen.
How rodents make decisions
In a paper published in Nature, the Coordinator of the Champalimaud Neuroscience Programme, Zachary Mainen, has revealed surprising findings on how rodents make decisions. “Primate used to be the only game in town,” says Zachary Mainen, now at the Champalimaud Neuroscience Programme in Lisbon, Portugal, “Now we are starting to appear as a small force in cognition meetings.”
