Dr. Bruno Costa-Silva concluded his baccalaureate in Pharmacy and Biochemistry at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil) in 2005, where he also received his MSc degree in Cellular and Molecular Neurosciences in 2007. He entered the graduate program in Oncology at the AC Camargo Hospital (Brazil), and performed his PhD studies from 2008 to 2011 with Dr. Vilma Regina Martins and Dr. David Lyden at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research (Brazil) and Weill Cornell Medical College, respectively. Next, he continued his work with Dr. David Lyden as a postdoctoral fellow 2011 to 2015 and as an Instructor of Cell and Developmental Biology in 2015. In addition, from 2013 to 2015, he worked as a visiting scientist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center with Dr. Richard Kolesnick. In 2016 Dr. Costa-Silva moved to the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown in Lisbon to establish his own lab, which focuses on investigating the systemic processes involving tumor-stroma interactions through extracellular vesicles relevant for tumorigenesis, tumor growth and metastasis.
